Flamingo Flocking

The geese are heading south, but flamingos are here to stay!

We invite you to get involved in the latest excitement to hit Hillsboro since McDonald’s came to town! It’s called “flocking”!!! For a minimum cost of $10.00, you can have someone special in your life “flocked”!

Just imagine waking up on your birthday to behold a flock of pink flamingos on your front lawn… or cheering on someone’s anniversary with such a “retro” statement… perhaps you’ve been wanting to do something crazy to your boss… or you just want someone to know you are thinking of them in a lighthearted way! Whatever the occasion, “flocking” them is a great way to make them stand out for a day!!!

Here’s how it works: you give us the name, address and date that you would like the youth group to set up a flock of flamingos (10 to be specific) on that special someone’s yard. Members of the youth group will go to that person’s house (secretly in the early morning) and set up the flamingos on the front lawn. They will also put up a sign identifying the youth group and leave a note on the individual’s door letting them know a little more about this fun happening (who ordered the flocking etc.). The flamingos will be left up for all to see until early evening when members of the youth group will return to take them down.

Here are some important specifics:

Houses being flocked must be within a 5 mile radius of the church. Requests for flocking outside of the given radius will be considered on an individual basis.
We need at least one week’s notice to flock someone; the first two flocking requests received for any given day will be honored so be sure to include alternate dates in case your desired date is already taken.
Payment is due upon request.
“Flocking” request sheets need to be filled out by the flocker along with the payment (information will include your phone number and address, the name and address of who you want flocked, and the date you would like the flocking)

The minimum cost to flock someone is $10.00. Donations above and beyond that amount are graciously accepted. Please make checks payable to HUMC with “flamingo” on the memo line.
Want to guard against being flocked? Buy insurance to prevent your home from being flocked for a period of 3 months for $30.00. To do so you must fill out an insurance form.

All money raised will directly benefit youth group service/outreach projects and/or be used to offset the cost of Christian youth retreats/camp for youth group members.
